Stop Focusing On Employee Engagement

culture employee engagement leadership mission purpose values vision Oct 29, 2019

By now many leaders would be familiar with the global disengagement rates (70% ish) from studies by companies like Gallup and Deloitte.

Perhaps it’s time to stop focusing on Employee Engagement in isolation? Yes, you read that right. It is symptomatic of a poor or average culture. Let’s focus on the cause, not the symptom.

Culture is made up of the three key drivers of PURPOSEVALUES, and VISION. These are the things that are deeply valued in the cultural framework of your organization.

The critical part is the connection to the drivers of success for the business…and that is MISSION, the catalyst for the strategic and tactical framework of your business.

#PurposeDrives – Why does our business exist What problem are we passionate about solving in our world (and who for)?

#ValuesGuide – What is the unique thinking of our business that guides us to make smarter decisions in fulfilling our purpose?

#VisionInspires – What does our world look like 10 – 20 years from now when we are fulfilling our purpose through our values?

#MissionEvolves – Who do we need to become in the next 3 years to start creating that world?

Can you answer these questions succinctly and simply?

“People want their lives to be more meaningful. Purpose-riven leaders give them work that is meaning full”
– A Clarism.

Focus on the leading, living and loving the key success drivers of culture and your engagement rates will go up. The key success drivers of the business, the MISSION, will be born from the culture drivers in total alignment.

What are you doing to build an invincible culture and an aligned strategy in your organization?
